HIV/AIDS & TB Programme
Comprehensive Clinical Support, Restoring Health, and De-stigmatizing Chronic Care
At Yizani Sakhe Organisation, our health initiative serves as the primary cornerstone of community resilience. Established during the height of the epidemic, our HIV/AIDS & TB Programme provides holistic, multi-layered support frameworks to individuals directly affected by these chronic health conditions. We recognize that clinical adherence cannot succeed in a vacuum; effective medical treatment requires stable nutrition, emotional counseling, and accessible social safety nets.
Our team works untiringly to walk alongside patients throughout their recovery journeys, actively shifting the local narrative from one of isolation and despair to one of recovery, vitality, and long-term hope. Through systematic counseling and structural tracking, we ensure that every beneficiary is equipped with the resources and knowledge necessary to maintain their treatment protocols and lead dignified, healthy lives.
Core Activities and Specialized Services
To maximize treatment outcomes and foster a supportive environment for our health clients, the program deploys several targeted interventions:
- Nutritional Care Schemes: We operate an expansive, highly reliable feeding scheme running seven days a week, purposefully engineered to provide freshly prepared, nutritionally balanced meals. This framework is highly critical for patients who are awaiting medical or clinical consultations, ensuring they do not ingest heavy, chronic medications on an empty stomach.
- Emergency Nutritional Parcels: For severely compromised or home-bound patients who cannot easily access our centralized hubs, our facilitators package and issue structured monthly food parcels directly to their households to maintain basic dietary safety lines.
- Disability Grant Assistance: Navigating state administrative channels can be an overwhelming barrier for those dealing with advanced illnesses. We conduct careful, thorough socio-economic assessments and actively assist individuals through the logistical process of applying for and receiving government disability grants.
- Awareness Campaigns and Workshops: To actively dismantle the severe social stigmas often attached to HIV and TB, our field team organizes aggressive community awareness campaigns, educational workshops, and open public forums.
- Psychosocial Counseling: We provide dedicated mental health networks and peer-led counseling sessions, creating confidential, safe spaces where patients can safely navigate the psychological weight of their diagnoses.
Programme Impact and Community Outcomes
The material execution of these integrated health services yields vital, life-saving outcomes for our community annually:
- Extensive Annual Care Reach: Over 3,000 individual beneficiaries living directly with HIV/AIDS and TB receive structured nutritional support and targeted healthcare services under our management annually.
- Drastic Reduction in Default Rates: Through continuous, empathetic household monitoring, nutritional tracking, and daily medication checks, we have achieved a significant reduction in medication default rates among our active clients.
- De-stigmatization and Open Awareness: Our localized workshops have successfully fostered increased community awareness, driving down historic social stigmas and encouraging early, proactive testing and medical intervention.

Success Story: Thabo M.’s Journey to Recovery
A Second Chance at Life
The true efficacy of our health program is captured in the lived transformations of our patients, beautifully illustrated by the journey of Thabo M..
“Yizani Sakhe gave me a second chance at life,” Thabo shares. “After my initial diagnosis, I found myself entirely lost, desolate, and physically weakened by the weight of my illness. The comprehensive, unwavering care and nutritional backing I received daily from the organization completely saved me. The feeding program helped me rebuild my physical strength, while their counselors helped me restore my internal hope .” Validated, nourished, and continuously supported, Thabo successfully managed his treatment protocols, regained his vitality, and was ultimately able to return to a deeply productive, self-sufficient life—changing his personal narrative from an outlook of pure despair to one of complete, inspiring recovery.
